Our Specialties and Features

1. Students receive training in speaking, listening, reading, translation, and interpretation. The curriculum emphasizes both theory and practice in its courses of literature, linguistics, English teaching, and applied English. The Department encourages students to not only develop English language proficiency, but to nurture personal professional development, and to develop an international awareness of global affairs.

2. The Department provides two academic tracks for learning: teacher training and non-teacher training programs. The teacher-training program offers students the opportunity to receive certification in elementary school level English teaching. The non-teacher training program provides students the opportunity to develop proficiency in English language, applied English, English literature, translation, interpretation, among other courses.

3. In addition to completing an extensive English program, the Department expects students to join international collaborations or activities with partner universities, with the goal of expanding their international outlook and participation in cross-cultural exchanges.

4. All full-time faculty have obtained doctorates in their fields and offer a wealth of experience in their roles as teachers, researchers, consultants, practitioners, and language contest judges in central Taiwan.

5. Every semester, local, national, and international scholars and experts in related professions are invited to participate in special seminars. Students are actively engaged in academic activities of various kinds, some organized by the Department/University, while others are student-initiated academic and non-academic activities.
